What does the Louisville Lead-Based Paint Ordinance Require?

The Louisville Lead-Based Paint Ordinance requires all long-term rentals to be certified Lead-Safe or Lead-Free. In order to comply, all property owners must upload a Lead Hazard Control Report to the Rental Registry. This report has to be completed by a Certified Lead Risk Assessor. The inspection involves 4 elements at a MINIMUM

  1. Visual Inspection of the Grounds

  2. Visual Inspection of the Exterior

  3. Visual Inspection of the Interior

  4. Dust Wipe Samples of the Interior

If the Visual Inspections identify areas of concern, additional samples will be required.
